Apple Inn
Biography & Highlights
The door guy at Apple Inn doesn't care about your guest list and you'll wait ten minutes just to squeeze past the regulars blocking the entrance on Liberty Ave. This Dormont corner bar isn't trying to be some polished listening room, which is why local punk bands and garage acts keep packing the back corner on weekends. You walk in past sticky vinyl booths and straight into a wall of cheap draft beer and guitar amp hum.
It's loud, dark, and there's zero room to breathe once the first chord hits. Sound bounces hard off the low ceiling and tile floor, turning vocals into a muddy roar if you're standing too close to the stack. You can't hear yourself think, let alone talk, but nobody's coming here for conversation anyway. The crowd is a mix of old Dormont lifers nursing IC Light and kids who rode the T down from the South Hills just to catch a cheap noise bill.
Bathrooms are gross and you'll dodge spilled pints on the walk back from the bar every single time. It's rough around the edges in a way that feels totally earned, and parking on the side streets is a nightmare if you roll up after nine.
